Who wants to live in an institution anyway

February 9, 2009

Not a single week passes by without me getting a wedding invite. And along with that another volley of questions from “well-wishers” (Ba,you are not included in this list) .

For practically the whole of the last year that was all I got to hear..including the BF who decided that he had to make an honourable woman out of me (you can stop laughing now) and never failed to remind , at any time, that I am yet to answer his proposal (” What should we order tonight?..And,have you thought about it…”,” Did we pay the internet bill ?…accha whats your answer yet “- you get the drift?)

If an yes is all that it takes to get some peace of mind around here, why not. And you would think this would be the Bollywood style “The End”,where the entire casts stands in a semi-circle for a family picture and also to let the dimwit audience know that the movie has ended.

This is more like those ,oh-so-smart movies which ends with “The Beginning”..(Quick question .Name a few hit Bollywood movies, which had that phenomenon?)

Because now starts the drama -parents,BF suddenly getting ants in his pants, and all I can see are roadblocks.

My own dwindling finances means all I can afford is a musty courtroom wedding (Hurrah to me!). Indian attire anyway never suited me. So there…Harrumph!!!!

So,I guess all I have to say at the end of that rambling post is the institution of marriage..well for want of a better

Tell us something we didn’t know already.

P.S.- And I am not yet married and I am not even a feminist, else this post would have been filled with tirades against in-laws, the big surname issue and what have you….

mar22 (To love oneself is the beginning of a life -long romance??)

To be fair to the BF, he does adore me and spoils me!! πŸ˜›

Interesting, I should read this after I read Looks like the married ones are already becoming the minority!!

You write well.. Got here when I googled for Assamese cuisine – cats and dogs to know if it was truly part of the cuisine πŸ™‚
For the record, found several websites that say it is not part of Assamese or any Indian cuisine… Some tribes in Meghalaya, Mizoram & S.India have it on the basis of some superstitious beliefs

@ ALL- NO I AM NOT GETTING MARRIED thank you .Not for now atleast πŸ™‚
@ Anu2 – thank you :-).but just for curiosity which tribe in South India?

The tribe is called “narikoravar” – they are mostly gypsies, very poor folks, selling trinkets, beads etc… I suppose poverty drives them to this… Poor things cant really afford to buy meat or for that matter even veggies…

i like the way anu says- very poor folks, selling trinkets, beads etc….hehe !!! “Poor things cant really afford to buy or for that mater even veggies”….hmm…even more wierd is that the link above contains even anecdotal statistics saying “5-6K cats are eaten every year”. I am just amazed !
