1) What author do you own the most books by?
Amitav Ghosh
2) What book do you own the most copies of?
My Family and Other Animals ,Gerald Durrell. I thought I lost my first one , so I bought one more and when I got the entire Corfu Trilogy in one book (after a decade of looking for it), I ended up with 3 copies .
3) Did it bother you that both those questions ended with prepositions?
As a matter of fact it did put me “off” !!
4) What fictional character are you secretly in love with?
Rhett Butler, Tridib (of Shadow Lines)
5) What book have you read the most times in your life?
Yes Minister (I still keep reading it)
6) What was your favorite book when you were ten years old?
I think the Mallory Towers series? Really, I  forgot.
7) What is the worst book you’ve read in the past year?
White Tiger, in relation to the hype and award it got.Other than that ,Sumthing of a mocktale.
8) What is the best book you’ve read in the past year?
The Life and Times of the ThunderBolt Kid
9) If you could force everyone to read one book, what would it be?
Letters to the Penthouse….
10) Who deserves to win the next Nobel Prize for literature?
Amitav Ghosh, Amitav Ghosh ,Amitav Ghosh. (Rohinton Mistry after that)
11) What book would you most like to see made into a movie?
Sea of Poppies. Because I havenot seen any movie set during the Opium War times.
12) What book would you least like to see made into a movie?
Penguin Book of wines. Boy that will be one drag of a movie.
13) Describe your weirdest dream involving a writer, book, or literary character.
Oh I constantly keep dreaming about all these writer’s having me as their secret muse.Nothing weird though.
14) What is the most lowbrow book you’ve read as an adult?
A Mills and Boon in college.
15) What is the most difficult book you’ve ever read?
Years back I tried to read Aldous Huxley and gave up after a few pages. Maybe I should try reading “Those Barren Leaves” again,now that I am old’er’ and wiser.
16) Shakespeare, Milton, or Chaucer?
Milton.(I will take advantage of the open-ended nature of the question and assume it means ‘Ideal author for a date”)
17) Austen or Eliot?
Austen.
18) What is the biggest or most embarrassing gap in your reading?
Lots. Shakespeare, Sherlock Holmes.LOTR too, but that is because I am not too fond of the fantasy genre.
19) What is your favorite novel?
Blah. Refuse to answer this.

Pygmalion, GBS

Roald Dahl ‘The Visitor’, Saki ‘The Open window’, O Henry ‘The Last Leaf’
